Ikaria’s landscapes are full of contrasts, stunningly beautiful, alluring & wild. The island has an extensive mountainous topography with the Atheras (Pramnos in ancient Greek language) mountain range being the highest on the island (1048 m. – 3455 ft.).

One can admire high mountain streams, small lakes & waterfalls, hot mineral springs, ancient oak forests, caves, rocky anaglyphs, canyons and gorges, dense pine forests, breathtaking sunsets at beautiful seaside landscapes. In general the island supports a rare combination of terrains and ecosystems, both on land and in the sea, included in the Network Natura 2000, the list of exceptional natural beauty, Important Bird Areas and CORINE biotopes.
